Ian, who runs Gear for the Weekend

Who's behind this

I'm Ian. I live in the Pacific Northwest and I spend most weekends outside — hiking, paddling, hunting ducks in the rain, and lately trying to make a golf swing hold up. Gear for the Weekend is where I put what I've worked out about the equipment.

Most of the photography on this site is mine, taken on the trips the gear was used on. Where a roundup covers something I haven't used personally, it says so. The aim is a site that's useful to the person I was five years ago — someone with a bit of money to spend and no idea which of forty near-identical tents is the right one.
